NEW EDITION J8IIM AND PLAAF’S INTENTIONS TO UPGRADE J8F

The J8IIM fighter put on display at Zhuhai Air Show 2006 is not the original 1998 edition fitted with the ZHUK8II radar from Russian Phazotron Design Bureau. As a matter of fact, this is a new J8IIM developed on the basis of upgraded PLAAF’s J8II F. The technical characteristics of this new edition J8IIM give some clues to the intentions of upgrading the latest edition J8F fighters currently in service.
